Had to remove drive pawl to get the adjuster kit
Tool Type
Lawn Mower
Difficulty
Medium
Time
1-2 hours
Tools Used
Wrench Set, hammer, penetrating oil
Turned mower upside down
Loosened hub nut to remove tire
Removed spring clip to remove tire drive wheel and removed drive wheel
I then soaked the drive Pawl on drive shaft and spent much time with punch to drive it out.
I could then remove old wheel adjuster that had stripped screws holding the assembly tight to mower.
I then replaced this part with the replacement in the reverse order of disassembly.
Drive gear was missing on a dumpster dive lawnmower.

3. Removed old front adjusters (decided to do both)

5. Installed new self drive gears (bought new ones as the old ones would not seat over the resized new bearing sleeves that were part of the front adjusters. New ones were the same size as the old ones so was forced to grind the opening larger to accommodate the bearing sleeve - new gears were a wasted purchase as I could’ve just ground the old ones)
6. Installed new wheels (purchased separately)
Parts were missing when I bought the lawnmower.
