I have a Cub Cadet SC500 ez Signature Cut Series (12ACC6S6010) lawn mower and I need to replace the upper handle (749-05084B-0637). How do I take off the speed drive cable (946-05121A) without damaging it? There is no screw and I'm not sure how to take it off.

Hi Gregory,
Thank you for your question. Here are some installation instructions that a customer posted on our website that you may reference for removing upper handle and the cable, 1 - Cut zip ties that hold throttle cable to the lower and upper handles.
2 - Remove upper handle by removing 2 bolts on each side (one on each side has big plastic wing nut that's hand tight).
3 - Detach throttle cable from auto shut-off lever and from upper handle (the plastic housing has a curved plastic pin that doesn't pull straight out of the mounting hole - you curve it around until it comes out, similar to the right side of the auto shut-off lever).
4 - Remove auto shut-off lever (pull left side away from the handle until it detaches and then pivot up toward the right handle until right side of lever - it's curved - comes out of the hole).
5 - Because it is easier if you have some slack to work with, BEFORE attaching the new upper handle, re-attach the throttle cable housing to the upper handle and the end of the throttle cable to the auto shut-off lever and then re-install the auto shut-off lever - then attach the new upper handle.
6 - Finish with 2-3 new zip ties to hold the throttle cable to the lower and upper mower handle. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!
