Questions & Answers for Diode Assembly

I just changed the switch in the saw. Mow the LED comes on, but the motor doesn't start. Could it be a bad diode, or is it another component?
Jethro for model number 2730-20 asked on 2022-05-01
Hello Jethro, thank you for writing. To be sure, please ensure the correct parts are used. The Switch is part 2127441 and the Switch Lock-Out Button is part 42-42-0345. Yes, the diode 23-38-2840 is the correct next assumption. This is shown by reading a past customers testimonial " took plenty of photos before removing switch and diode. Special attention to wire colors and position before replacing cover. T25 and t15? Needed. Minimum 2 inches on some screws. Easy really, just take photos and take your time. Probably never have to replace again. Buy both parts. Switch and diode. One or both can be bad."

I am looking for a trigger and diode for this and don't see the model number. Would the 2731-21 parts work on this saw ?
Shawn for model number 2731-20 asked on 2022-02-03
Hello Shawn, thank you for your question. Based on our research on your model, the Diode and trigger Switch Kit is part 23-66-2639. We hope this helps.

Intermittent operation when pulling trigger

Michael - February 3, 2022
Tool Type

Circular Saw

Difficulty

Easy

Time

15-30 minutes

Tools Used

Screwdriver

1. Remove battery
2. Remove blade
3. Remove screws from the main case
4. Disconnect the shoe height adjustment lever and remove the shaft.
5. Open the case, pretty straightforward, nothing will come springing out.
6. Slide the old switch and diode out, take a photograph of the wire layout.
7. Install the new diode to the new switch with the wires in the same position.
*Now is a good time to blow out any dust inside the case, my saw was full of MDF dust.
8. Close the case, making sure all wiring is tucked back inside neatly.
9. Install and tighten screws holding case together. Install the height adjustment mechanism and lever.
10. Install a battery and see how it works. (Mine fired off every trigger pull now, as it should).
11. Reinstall the blade. (After removing the battery again, of course).

Screwdriver, 18v drill for disassembly only

Ordered new trigger AND diode.
Like 3$ more for diode Took photos before removing screws. Pretty easy pull apart after all screws removed. Took plenty of photos before removing switch and diode. Special attention to wire colors and position before replacing cover. T25 and t15? Needed. Minimum 2 inches on some screws. Easy really, just take photos and take your time. Probably never have to replace again. Buy both parts. Switch and diode. One or both can be bad. Hardly worth your time to just do one. Fix it RIGHT the first time.
