This 120VAC, 1.5/2W, 50/60Hz damper control assembly is supplied by the original equipment manufacturer for use in refrigerators. It includes the damper door, damper control, motor, and housing. The assembly controls the airflow between the freezer and the refrigerator compartments so that each section of the appliance has the correct temperature. When the refrigerator needs more cool air, the damper door opens, and allows air to flow in. Once the desired temperature is reached, the door closes. If the damper door is stuck open, the refrigerator will get too cold and if it is stuck closed, it will be too warm, leading to frozen food and spoilage, respectively. To begin this repair, disconnect the appliance from the power source. Disconnect the wiring, remove the mounting fasteners, and pull the faulty unit out of the appliance. Position the new assembly in the fridge and reconnect the wires. Secure the assembly in place with the appropriate fasteners to complete the repair.
