  • Great Customer Support
This was an order for 2 items with one being on extended "back order". A quick call to Customer Support confirmed the order status being held up for the backordered item. They quickly split the order with the Chute Worm Gear arriving in a couple days. Support like this will have me coming back, without hesitate, for other parts as needed.

    1. Remove the cotter pin at the worm gear joint, pull all the connecting pins and disconnect the assembly.
    2. Save all the parts in a small bowl, as they are easy to lose if you are working outside this time of year.
    3. pulled worm gear, and removed the worm gear holder, with 11mm sockets both top and bottom.
    4. Noticed worm gear holder cracked at both bolt holes, replaced that unit through Sears Parts a eParts didn't show that part available.
    5. Fit worm gear into bracket, place bolts with their washer up through holes, put top washer and nut on and tighten.
    6. Recommend drive rod is reverse order of disassembly and don't forget cotter pin.
    Unit back fully functional.

    1. Remove the chute bolts and the chute.
    2. Lift out the inner retainer ring.
    3. Remove the 4 bolts that hold the chute mounting flange.(this was the hardest part of the repair, because the heads of the bolt are partly covered.
    4. Remove the outer retainer ring and flange plate.
    5. exchange the chute worm gears
    6. Set the new outer retainer ring and place the chute flange inside the retainer ring.
    7. Install all 4 bolts then tighten all 4 bolts
    8. install the inner retainer ring.
    9. Align the bolt holes, making sure the outer retainer is in the proper position to rotate 180 degrees.
    10. start the 4 bolts through the inner and outer retainers, with the bolt at the back and front of the chute are all the way through, but the 2 side bolts are flush with the outside of the outer retainer ring.
    11. install the chute and start the nut on the front and back bolts. then push the side bolts through and install the nuts.
    12. Tighten the nuts but do not over tighten them.
