Questions & Answers for Push Rod-choke

how to connect the (951-10640)Choke Push Rod?
Raad for model number 31BM53LE565 asked on 2022-02-03
Hi Raad, Thank you for your question. Here is some general information that you may reference on how to install a push rod on your snowblower engine. Before beginning this repair, make sure that the engine and muffler have cooled. Once it has cooled, use a socket to remove the screws securing the guard to the muffler. Then use a socket with an extension to remove the screw securing the guard?s rear mounting strap to the bracket. Then remove the guard and detach the breather tube from the rocker cover. Then use a socket to remove the screws securing the rocker cover to the cylinder head. Then use a universal joint adapter to remove the top screw. With the screws removed, you can remove the cover. If the rocker cover gasket is loose, remove it. Then detach the spark plug wire and boot from the spark plug. Then remove the spark plug. Then confirm that the engine piston is in the up position and lower the piston slightly to make sure that both rocker arms stay loose. Then use a wrench to secure the intake or exhaust rocker arm adjuster nut and use an Allen wrench to loosen the set screw. With the set screw loosened, remove the nut and rocker arm. Then remove the old push rod. Then insert the new push rod into the guide until it is fully seated in the cylinder head. Make sure the valve cap is in place and realign the rocker arm. Then partially rethread the adjuster nut. Use the feeler gauge to properly set the gap between the rocker arm and the valve cap. The intake rocker arm gap should be between .004 and .006 of an inch. The exhaust rocker arm gap should be between .009 and .011 of an inch. Then tighten the set screw and recheck the gap. Then rethread the spark plug and follow the steps in reverse. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week. We look forward to hearing from you!
