followed the instructions that came with the replacement cartridge. Instructions were mostly pictures but even so could have been a little more specific. You had to do both sides of the instructions but they didn't say that clearly. The old parts were harder to get apart then the instructions lead you to believe.
But by doing it myself I probably saved $150 in a plumber's bill.
