1. Spoke to the most personable, knowledgeable and helpful Mary who assisted me with ordering the correct parts. Mary, I thank you!
2. After the replacement parts arrived, I took digital pictures of the failed brush assembly's wiring.
3. I also labeled which wire colors went to where on the body of the saw.
4. With a modest amount of effort, I was able to remove the brushes, springs and melted holder. This was the most time consuming portion, because I took great care not to damage the armature.
5. I removed the contamination from the armature contact ring with a copper wire wheel attached to my Dremel.
6. Reattached the wiring to the proper connections on the holder, installed the holder. Note that the copper brush holders are movable. Take care to not run them into the armature contact ring!
7. Installed the outer case, brushes and springs.
8. Holding my breath, I plugged in the saw and pressed the trigger and was rewarded with its normal purring sound and reciprocating blade holder!
