Product Description ?

"This is a complete chain brake mechanism with linkages, pins, and springs. You will find this part attached to the hand guard of the chainsaw. The chain brake is released by pulling the hand guard. It engages manually or in the event of kickback. The chain brake’s function is to block the saw chain before starting it and to stop it instantly in an emergency.

The chain brake should be inspected frequently and checked for function before ever starting the chainsaw. To test the chain brake, start the engine while making sure you have solid footing, and the chainsaw is placed on the ground so that the guide bar is not making contact with anything. Hold the handle tightly with one hand and the grip with your other hand. While the engine is active, press the hand guard with the back of your hand until the brake engages. This should stop the chain instantly. Release the throttle and chain brake. If the chain did not stop when you tested, do not use the chainsaw.

Before you begin any repair, always switch off the engine and take the plug cap off the spark plug. To access the braking mechanism, remove the chain, guide bar, unscrew the screw, and remove the guide plate. Now Unscrew the screw and remove the braking mechanism. The braking mechanism is a part that should be regularly checked and cleaned. Position the new braking mechanism. Place the cover back on (give it a clean before doing so), then put the guide plate back on."
