A nail destroyed the vacuum fan

    Carl - November 17, 2016
👍 1 of 4 people found this instruction helpful
    Tool Type

    Vacuum

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    1-2 hours

    Tools Used

Pliers, 20 mm torx screwdriver, soldering iron

    1. Took the vacuum apart to get to the motor (Remove 5 screws and 2 springs)
    2. Tried to get the pulley/nut off the motor shaft, but there is no place to hold or jam the shaft while the nut is turned.
    3. Tried to chisel off the broken plastic fan. That did not work.
    4. Cut the fan off using a soldering iron to melt the plastic and a pair of pliers. Once the fan was off, it was very easy to remove the pulley/nut.
    5. Put the new fan on the shaft, replace the pulley/nut, put the machine back together.
