The original blade clamp was held in place with a roll pin. The new, upgraded version is held in place with a set screw. The new blade clamp is slightly different from the original and does not fit well on the old slider. I found that I could use my tabletop grinder to reshape the end of the original slider so that the new clamp fit well. Then, I drilled out the hole in the slider with a 5/32 drill and tapped it with the M5 tap. The repair was pretty straightforward and the parts were great.
If I were to do it again, I would order the new slider, part #8 along with the new blade clamp and set screw.

Makita sawzall blade came loose cut into the shoe and took a piece off the gear housing cover and tore the insulation cover.

Removed the screws holding the shoe , then I removed the insulation cover. I then removed the screws holding the gear housing cover. I tried removing the screws holding the blade piston hut they were very tight and couldn’t get then out with my Phillips head so I gently and carefully used a vise grip . Removed all the grease and saved it in a pile . Reinstalled everything greased the shaft and slide and tested it out . Worked great . And my old tool , 30 years old , is like new . Awesome ! Thanks to eReplacement I got the right parts . Thanks again

1. Disassembled front 3rd and determined that the slider shift was broken.
2. Replaced slider shaft, needle bearing 708, and blade clamp.
3. Applied bearing grease where needed.
4. Replaced insulation cover.
