Product Description ?

This is a genuine OEM replacement part used on lawn and garden equipment. Ball bearings are used to reduce friction between rotating parts. The balls or rollers take the load and spin, distributing the weight evenly while the minimal contact area of the ball reduces friction. Bearings experience constant wear from pressure, heat, vibration and friction. Because of this, many bearings need to be periodically replacement. This part is made out of metal and it is sold individually.

I received the bearing and spindle housing in good time. The spindle housing did not have bolt threads. Fortunately I had the correct thread tap and was able to cut the threads into the housing myself. I installed the new bearing and housing then proceeded to cut the lawn. Everything work perfectly.

I found several U tube videos on replacing the parts. While not exactly the same, it was enough to guide me through the process. The most difficult part was getting the belts off and new ones on. It is definitely advisable to take pictures before during and after disassembly. Removing the battery under the seat to get to the main drive belt was necessary as well as removing some pulleys to get the belts off and on. Purchasing the parts for the spindles was much less expensive than purchasing the assembled spindle, and not that difficult to assemble. Initially I did not think I had a choice but with a little more digging I found the individual bearings and sleeve parts. I did not have the 1" socket needed to hold the nut on the fly wheel in place while removing the pully below so I used a pipe wrench between the two pulleys to hold the drive shaft in place when removing and installing the bolt below to drop the pulleys. I was concerned that I would twist the bolt off on the bottom of the drive shaft so called Sears to make sure it was not reverse threaded. Last thing I needed was to have to drill out a broken bolt. It turns out that the bolt was just very tough to loosen.
