How to Replace the Air Filter on an Echo Chainsaw

Echo chainsaw air filter

The air filter removes any dirt, dust or other debris before they can enter the engine. This debris can easily plug the carburetor, making the saw run poorly or not start at all. If dirt gets into the engine, serious engine damage can occur. The air filter should be inspected often and replaced at least once per year (or more as needed).

Let's get started.

REMOVING THE AIR FILTER   1. Remove the lid.

a. Loosen the knob securing the air cleaner lid to the housing.

b. Remove the air cleaner lid from the saw.

  2. Remove the air filter.

a. Unscrew and remove the cap securing the air filter to the intake assembly.

b. Remove the air filter.

INSTALLING THE NEW AIR FILTER

  3. Install the air filter.

a. Install the new air filter onto the intake assembly.

b. Secure the new air filter with the cap.

REASSEMBLING THE UNIT

  4. Reinstall the lid.

a. Install the air cleaner lid onto the saw housing.

b. Secure the air cleaner lid with the knob.
