The switch allows you to turn your machinery on an off. It is a push-style switch that interrupts both the hot and neutral wires. After years of use, the switch can fail. It can be easily tested using a multimeter.
Let's get started.
REMOVING THE SWITCH 1. Remove the switch.
a. Unplug the unit.
b. Remove the two screws securing the switch cover.
c. Pull the switch cover away from the switch housing.
d. Pull the switch assembly out of the housing to access the wires.
e. Note the location of the wires (for reassembly).
f. Loosen the screws securing the wire connectors to the terminals on the switch.
g. Remove the switch assembly from the unit.
INSTALLING THE NEW SWITCH
2. Install the switch.
a. Install the wires onto the new switch (in the same configuration as the original).
b. Secure the wire connectors with the screws.
c. Tuck the wires into the switch box.
d. Install the screws into the new switch cover plate.
e. Install the cover plate onto the new switch assembly (passing the screws through the switch assembly on the inside).
f. Secure the new switch (and cover plate) to the switch housing with the screws.
