Product Description ?

This armature is an authentic Dewalt replacement part. It is sourced from original equipment manufacturer for use with impact wrenches. The armature is a key component of an electric motor. In conjunction with a field it is what creates the motion. Over time, especially if the tool is constantly overloaded, it may begin to smoke or spark. This is caused by worn out armature insulation. Replacing an armature should resolve the issue and prevent further damage to the tool. It is recommended to replace both carbon brushes when replacing an armature. This assembly consists of an armature with the fan and both end bearings.

When replacing an armature you will need a screwdriver set, a wrench set and pliers.

• Make sure the tool is unplugged
• Remove the housing
• Remove the brushes
• Remove the armature
• Secure the new armature in place
• Reassemble and test the tool

Imact driver motor would run, but not drive bit.

Remove all torx screws holding case halves together and separate case. Impact gearcase will slide off the end of armature. There is no need to remove (and loose) snap ring and disassemble case like I did. Therefore you will not need to purchase new snap ring. Separate brush halves and remove old armature. You will find that the spline that fits into gear case spins freely from armature shaft and is supposed to spin securely with shaft. Install new armature and assemble in reverse order of disassembly. Be very careful to line everything up properly or the case halves will not go together easily. Do not use screws to force case halve together, if everything is lined up they will fit properly without screws.
