Easy 15-30 minutes (2 rated repairs)?

I had to replace the initiation, c.saw was not firing. While I was replacing the ignition, I replaced the pull rope, air filter and spark plug.

Actually this was the second time into this repair. I had purchased an "aftermarket" ignition previously, big mistake. Another lesson learned, ALWAYS USE PROPER REPAIR PARTS. It will save a lot of time and make your repair jobs go much smoother. FYI - The saw is a Husqvarna 372, 24" Bar

I simply removed cover that holds the pull rope and gained access to the ignition area. Tightening down the new ignition while maintaining a gap between the ignition and the "flywheel", using a business card.
I used the vice grips to hold the tightened spring in place while replacing the pull rope, I find it makes it easier to replace the rope, you just have to be careful not to put too much pressure on the vice grips because the reel that holds the rope is plastic, although a very tough plastic, it's still plastic. Put it all back together.
Pulled the rope and was ready to start cutting. Runs like a new saw!

I have had this saw for at least 10 years, it was purchased with a group of saws at a pawn shop. I think I got at least 10 different saws for under $1,000,00. There were two of these saws in the "package". This one saw has been worth the amount paid for all, it is used quite a lot and with the PROPER repair parts will be used a lot more.

    Thanks, I'll be back

Air filter plugged. Clutch cover was broken.

    Clutch cover replacement:
    1. Backed-off the chain tensioner adjusting screw.
    2. Remove the two nuts holding the clutch cover onto the engine.
    3. Removed the clutch cover.
    4. Put new cover in place and installed the clutch cover nuts being careful to align the chain tensioner pin.
    5. When the cover nuts are snug, tighten the chain tensioner screw.
    6. Tighten cover nuts.
    7. Run saw for a minute then re-tension the chain.

    Replace air filter:

    1. Go into kitchen and have a cup of coffee.
    2. With saw on work bench use a flat tip screwdriver to un-snap the plastic air filter cover retainers.
    3. Remove air filter cover. Set aside.
    4. Remove air filter by unscrewing the thumbscrew. If thumbscrew is too tight you may need a flat tip screwdriver or a pair of duck bill pliers to loosen it.
    5. Using a cleaning brush clean all debris away from the air filter where it attaches to the engine.
    6. Remove old air filter.
    7. Remove thumbscrew from old filter and put it in the new filter.
    8. Place filter on engine and tighten thumbscrew.
    9. Replace the air filter cover and secure it by snapping the plastic retainers into position.
