This Air Cleaner Kit is an OEM part direct from MTD for use in a walk-behind lawnmower. The purpose of the air cleaner is to keep dust and debris from entering the carburetor and engine. This kit includes one paper filter and one foam filter. The paper filter cannot be cleaned and needs to be replaced once a year. The foam filter can be cleaned by using liquid detergent and water, replace the foam element when damaged. Never run the engine without the filters as this can result in rapid engine wear.

1. Removed pull cord assembly & engine cowling
2. Detach fuel line from tank
3. Removed old fuel filter
4. Installed new filter
5. Reattached fuel line
6. Replaced cowling & pull cord assembly
7. Removed air filter & replaced
8. Removed spark plug
9. Squirted oil into cylinder & pulled starter cord a few times
10. Install new spark plug

4. Installed new filter
5. Reattached fuel line
6. Replaced cowling & pull cord assembly
7. Removed air filter & replaced
8. Removed spark plug

Remove and install air cleaner assembly & recoil starter. Replaced carb. ,fuel filter, spark plug &air filter. Adjusted engine rpm’s. Runs great.

Remove the 4 screws from the engine cover
Remove the bolt the holds the cable to the handle
I had to cut the cable near the engine because it was froze up and wouldn't move
Install the new cable

removed air cleaner cover, cleaned housing replaced filter element. removed front wheel covers removed axle nuts , removed old wheels replaced with new wheels installed wheel cover, when back to mowing

I unscrewed the nut and cleaned out the old filter compartment. Then I placed the new filter in the compartment and closed the door by tightening the screw.
