Sample Model Number Tag
In most cases, the model number will be displayed on a sticker, decal, or metal tag attached to your equipment. It is usually located in one of the areas shown when you select your equipment from the menu above.
Different brands present this information in different ways, so don’t worry if your equipment doesn’t match the example exactly. For example, Milwaukee refers to model numbers as “catalog numbers” and uses a separate “serial number” to identify specific versions. Makita typically uses only a model number with no secondary type or serial number. Then there’s Ryobi, which usually only has a model number, but in some cases has a “bar code number,” located on a separate bar code. Talk about confusing!
So, let’s keep it simple. If you are unsure, start with the most visible number on the nameplate. Then use our search results to narrow it down using any additional numbers you see. In most cases, it really is that simple.
